Sydney comes alive with a huge variety of events during Mardi Gras season every February and March, but there's plenty happening all year round.
Take your pick! Here's your guide to special events around our city created by and for our LGBTQI communities. We update this free listing each week until our website is revamped in November to launch our 2018 Mardi Gras season. In the meantime, email your event news to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please note: Stonewall Hotel, ARQ, the Colombian Hotel, the Oxford Hotel, the Imperial Hotel and the Red Rattler each have regular events happening each weekday and weekends, and the Gay4Play group hosts a variety of social activities.

Reclaim the Night Rally 2017 - Friday 27 October @ Hyde Park
Reclaim the Night is an annual worldwide rally that protests the gendered nature of violence. Come out to Hyde Park at 5pm for live music, incredible speakers, and marching in the name of an end to gendered violence. This year's theme is LOUD AND UNAPOLOGETIC! So wear your loudest clothes, coat yourself in glitter and take up as much space as you can! At 6pm we will have some incredible speakers and at 7pm we will start marching through the city. Parade Creative Ideas Workshop - Saturday 28 October @ University of Sydney Business School
Interested in entering a float or participating in the 2018 Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade but need someone to bounce your ideas off or answer some questions? Join us at our free PARADE CREATIVE IDEAS WORKSHOP! Creative Director Greg Clarke and Workshop Manager Liz Carter will be there to hear your ideas and help you with your parade application. Doggos For Equality - Saturday 28 October @ Sydney Park
Does your doggo love equality? Would your pupper vote YES if it could? Bring your canine companion along for an afternoon of treats, photos and nose boops to celebrate marriage equality. Every good boy and girl gets a bandana and a hug! This event organised by Australian Marriage Equality.
Liveworks 2017 | Day for Night - Saturday 28 October @ Carriageworks
Day for Night is back! The much-loved collision of queer performance and party culture returns in 2017, bringing together a host of Australia’s finest queer artists, performers, DJs, musicians and lovers in a glorious fusion of club culture, contemporary art and new performance. Beginning as a series of entrancing performance and video works that unfold over the afternoon, Day for Night slowly but surely evolves into Sydney’s most spectacular queer art party, meshing together the performance space and the dancefloor under the musical genius of legendary Sydney DJs Stereogamous. The 11th Annual Parramatta Pride Picnic is on and is going to be HUGE! A massive day is planned with 45 community stalls, rainbow kids activation area, the Holly and Ace dog show, food trucks, Q&A panels, drag queens, Bollywood dancers, buskers, choirs and more. More details here!
Lemons with a Twist - Friday 3 November @ Oxford Hotel
The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Business Association's regular mixing event for women, each month Lemons takes over two stylish spaces at The Oxford Hotel. From 6pm Polo Lounge opens for canape’s and drinks while guests take advantage of the outdoor balcony and the Spring nights. Find out more here.

Marriage Survey Results Announcement - Wednesday 15 November @ Prince Alfred Park
Regardless of the result, Wednesday 15th November is a time for us come together. Friends, families, fiancés and of course fur-babies are welcome at Prince Alfred Park from 10am - 1pm to acknowledge all the hard work for marriage equality. Fruits in Suits - Thursday 16 November @ Beresford Hotel
The Sydney Gay & Lesbian Business Association celebrates 21 years of its Fruits in Suits event. The original of now many such-named events throughout the Asia-Pacific, the event has provided a monthly forum at which LGBTI professionals, (and increasingly, as LGBTI acceptance and integration has progressed, allies), could network in a safe and social environment. A Queerstories special, this month features pairs of queers sharing the tale of their love. At a time when Australia is focused on one kind of queer love – marriage – Queerstories celebrates all the ways two people can make each other’s lives better. Transgender Day of Remembrance Candlelight Vigil - Monday 20 November @ Taylor Square
Trans Sydney Pride are proud to present the second Transgender Day of Remembrance Candlelight Vigil on Monday 20 November 17 at 7-45 pm in Taylor Square, Darlinghurst. Community, family and friends are invited to gather in Taylor Square as the light of the day begins to fade, we will reflect on the day's significance and hear from our community leaders. Joining in voice will be the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Choir and everyone will be welcome to light a candle in love.
Candles will be available for a gold coin donation, although you are most welcome to bring your own. Please note that this is an all-weather event. At the conclusion of the event you are invited to move to exclusive TSP drinks in the Diva Bar at Stonewall Hotel.
